    Cataloging status report

We've begun the awesome process of cataloging our massive collection. As we progress, please don't hesitate to send us an e-mail with your request if you don't see it in our catalog.  Are you looking for something special?  Are you looking for a specific title?  Perhaps a favorite performer?  You never know, we may have it right here!

A few words about vinyl records

78rpm records stopped being manufactured in approximately 1954, which means most are at least 45 years old. By their age and very nature, these records a fragile. Our warehouse staff has, at times, wound-up breaking records just by picking them up.

Almost all these type records, without exception, will have some level of background noise either between sings or on partial songs. Unless there are skips, pops and/or jumps (which is typically the worst problem with vinyl records) these records can still be enjoyed even with this partial background noise. Bidders must remember, however, that the recording quality of the past was not the same as today’s modern CD recordings. Again, all these type records will have some level of background noise.

Grading standards

We use the industry's generally accepted grading standards to rate each individual record.  While this standard is somewhat subjective, we make every effort to make a fair assessment of each record's quality.  As a general rule, you will find that we usually under rate a record's grade.
